Niaron Ltd. are a multi-disciplinary civil engineering and utilities contractor operating nationwide in the public and private sector with offices located in Mungret, Limerick and Ashbourne, Co. Meath. We have several long-standing clients providing repeat business and we have experienced significant growth in the past 5 years, we are looking to recruit a number of Civil Engineering Placement Students Nationwide. This is a fantastic opportunity for any student seeking placement to receive excellent experience in civil engineering and utility projects with an exceptional business.

The Role 

Niaron Ltd. are seeking extremely talented students to commence their professional career with our extremely experienced Civil Engineers, Construction Managers, Site Engineers and Health & Safety professionals. The Placement role will report to a mentor assigned by the business with positions available in either the Midwest or Greater Dublin Region. The Placement Student will be responsible for assisting their assigned team with all aspects of their role which includes strict management of all health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) procedures and day to day management of the project.

As a Placement Student you are required to have a reasonable knowledge and understanding of civil engineering and utility projects including some knowledge of underground electrical networks, our experienced team will provide day to day mentoring onsite while each Friday you will participate in our formal mentoring sessions to broaden your knowledge base.

The duties of the Placement Student will include:

• In conjunction with the project team ensure compliance with the HSEQ requirements for every site operation.
• Undertake tasks relating to safety, resource allocation, setting out, traffic management and supervision arrangements as assigned by your mentor.
• In conjunction with our Site Engineers ensure adherence with project drawings and specifications for all works being delivered by our inhouse teams.
• Assist our team to work within the sustainability procurement policy of the business.
• Understand delivery times our team are managing to meet the project timelines.
• Learn how to keep detailed records and how to maintain well‐organised work schedules.
• Introduction to management of sub‐contractors and suppliers in conjunction with the team.
• Assisting our team to deal effectively with challenges within the site crews.
• Learn how to communicate with site personnel and team members in a construction environment.
• Attend informal monthly meet and greet sessions with senior members of the business to discuss the placement programme.
  
  

Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications 

• Basic knowledge of HSEQ requirements.
• Good analytical skills and ability to interpret site information.
• Some knowledge of the electrical network including HV, MV and LV.
• Good communication ability both written and verbal.
• Willing to work as part of a team.
  
  

Required:

• Safepass
• Full Clean Driving licence

Additional training required but not essential:

• Sign, Lighting & Guarding at Roadworks. 
  
• Location of Underground Services.
• GPS/ Total station
